The Inspiration
It was the end of the 1999 football season as I found myself attending a double header at HEB's Pennington Field in Bedford. Mart defeated Boyd in the first game to claim the 2A Division I State Title and my friend Scott Batts and I had some free time before the next game, a 1A State Semifinal. We started asking around for a good place to grab some grub and the locals in the press box all suggested North Main Street BBQ, an all you can eat for $10 super buffet. Now that's what you call road food. Anyone that knows me and Scott can already predict that we ate well. Since then, I have taken note of all the great places I have found to gather with fellow broadcasters and fans to enjoy a meal and talk some good old Texas high school football, basketball, baseball and many other youth and little league sports all year long!. As we all travel the Texas roadways of course we can use any search engine to find some good food. It always seems to be the same places.
